Quick Setup

Get LostChurn running in 5 minutes — from account creation to your first recovery campaign.

This guide walks you through the complete setup process. Most teams are live in under 5 minutes.

Step 1: Create Your Account

Sign up at lostchurn.com/sign-up. You can use your email or sign in with Google.

After signing up, you'll land on the onboarding wizard which walks you through the remaining steps.

Step 2: Connect Your Payment Processor

LostChurn needs access to your payment processor to receive decline events and retry payments.

For Stripe (recommended):

  1. Click Connect Stripe in the onboarding wizard
  2. Authorize LostChurn via Stripe's OAuth flow
  3. LostChurn automatically configures webhooks and permissions

For Braintree:

  1. Select Braintree from the processor list
  2. Enter your Merchant ID, Public Key, and Private Key from the Braintree Control Panel
  3. Copy the webhook URL provided and add it in Braintree under Settings > Webhooks

LostChurn supports 13 payment processors in total. See Integrations for the full list and processor-specific setup guides.

Step 3: Configure Recovery Settings

Navigate to Settings > Recovery to configure how LostChurn handles failed payments.

These defaults work well for most businesses. You can fine-tune them later based on your Analytics data.

Step 4: Choose a Campaign Template

LostChurn provides three built-in campaign templates to get you started. Pick the one that matches your brand:

Gentle

Low-pressure recovery with longer delays between touches. Best for premium or B2B subscriptions where you want to preserve the relationship above all else.

  • Soft language, no urgency
  • 2 email touches total

Balanced

A middle-ground approach that works for most subscription businesses. Mixes patience with clear calls to action.

  • 1-day delay before first email
  • Clear but friendly language
  • 3 email touches + 1 SMS

Aggressive

Fast-moving recovery for high-volume, low-AOV subscriptions where speed matters most.

  • Same-day first email
  • Direct language with urgency
  • 4 email touches + 2 SMS

You can customize any template or build your own in the Campaign Builder.

Step 5: Launch

Review your settings, then click Activate Recovery. LostChurn will begin:

  1. Listening for failed payment events from your processor
  2. Classifying each failure automatically
  3. Running silent retries at optimal times
  4. Escalating to your chosen campaign when retries are exhausted

You'll see your first recovery data in the Analytics Dashboard within hours of your first failed payment.
